Red Cross Shares Holiday Spirit with Military Families

Eighteen military families with 50 children are the recipients of the Service to the Armed Forces of the Charlotte Metro Chapter’s Holiday Cheer this year. This Red Cross cheer will enable these children to have a holiday they will always remember.

“Throughout the week, the gifts have been delivered to all of the families,” said Judith Ross, lead volunteer for Service to the Armed Forces of the American Red Cross Charlotte Metro Chapter. “According to Ross, there was much tip toeing and secrecy to sneak decorated trees and presents inside the homes.”

Parents collaborated to keep little ones occupied and unaware until the decorated trees were in place, and the gifts were hidden. “Once the children saw the decorated trees, there was much excitement,” said Ross. “I can only imagine what it will be like on Christmas Day!”IMG_0121

Families receiving gifts this week are composed of Army National Guard and Reserve and the Marine Corp Reserve.
