BB&T Associates Roll Up Their Sleeves to Give Back to the Community

On a hot summer’s day, BB&T Associates participated in the Volunteer Engagement Lighthouse Project by rolling up their sleeves and washing American Red Cross vehicles. At the Red Cross Emergency Disaster Operation Center, volunteers were divided into different groups to tackle cleaning the inside and outside of emergency services and transportation vehicles. Because of their efforts, the vehicles will now be clean and comfortable for American Red Cross volunteers and clients.

As an added activity, the Red Cross trained participants in the lifesaving “Citizen CPR” training. The thirty minute training taught compressions-only CPR and was beneficial in empowering BB&T employees to help save a life in the event of a cardiac arrest. By giving their time and energy, BB&T associates were able to participate in a bonding experience and feel great about having given back to the community through car washing.
