Gary and Renee Eldridge were both first-time blood donors at the American Red Cross LAPS FOR DRIVE 9/11 blood drive at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.
Their son, Gavan, was born March 30, three months premature. He needed a blood transfusion to survive. That is why Gary and Renee decided to donate blood.
“We saw what Gavan went through and how blood helped him,” said Renee. “Now, we truly understand the meaning of what it is to give blood.”
Gary and Renee said they thoroughly enjoyed their first donation experience at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and they plan to come back to the Red Cross regularly to donate in the future.
